Indian almond leaves (Catappa leaves)

Catappa leaves or Indian almond leaves are very popular in the aquarium world and are used for a variety of purposes. Many breeders and hobbyists swear by using indian almond leaves for their bettas, and I have been using them ever since I tried them for the first time.

  • Can lower the pH, beneficial for a lot of fish species and bettas.
  • Replicates natural habitat and makes bettas feel safer.
  • Adds tannins which improve the health of your betta fish

The dark color and fine structure make this gravel a good choice for in your Betta tank. Especially wild Betta species feel safe on a dark gravel with lots of plants. Make sure to rinse this gravel well, since it can get quite dusty otherwise.
